This site is taking over from the Ani DiFranco Previous Tour Information Site. As such, the facilities enabled by this site may be unavailable from time to time, as updates to the database are made.
Please be patient while this process continues - if you get an error indicating that a page or table is unavailable, then chances are I'm tweaking or updating something. You could try pressing the 'Shift' key at the same time as hitting the Refresh/Reload icon, but I can't guarantee that that will fix anything. Better to come back in 30 minutes when the update should have finished (a full database update takes about 20 minutes).
If you do see anything on the site that is incorrect, mis-spelled, missing, badly formatted or just plain stupid, please let me know. The data from the old site has been re-entered manually and errors are bound to be introduced.
If there is anything missing from the site that you'd like to see included, again let me know.
You can either browse the site, tour by tour, show by show, or search for show(s) by various criteria.
If browsing, selecting a tour will take you to a list of shows on that tour. These are presented
10 shows at a time. You can either view information about a show, by clicking on the info button
(
), or page through the shows
using the navigation controls at the top and bottom of the listing.
You can see what information is available for each show with the At A Glance indicators:
| S | the setlist of the show is available |
| R | a review(s) of the show is available |
| P | photographs from the show are available |
| O | on-line audio/video of the show is available |
| T | an audio recording of the show is know to exist. This does not mean that I have a copy ! |
| V | a video recording of the show is know to exist., This does not mean that I have a copy ! |
Any shows added in the last 7 days will be indicated by NEW!. Any shows updated in the last 7 days will be indicated by UPDATE!.
If searching, you can enter as much or as little information as you want (or know). The search engine will attempt to find shows matching all the entered details i.e. the details are AND'ed together. An exception to this is the recording information - if multiple recording flags are searched for, shows matching any of the flags will be returned i.e. these flags are OR'ed together.
You may use the wildcard %, and partial matches will be returned e.g. entering "little" as a Song Title will return shows where "Two Little Girls" or "Little Plastic Castle" were played. The search is also case insensitive, so it doesn't matter about capitals. Do be careful about some spellings - I've tried to be as accurate as possible, and this includes using spelling related to the country of the show, so there are differences in theatre/theater and centre/center etc.
Start and end dates may be used to limit the search. If any part of the date is missing, then the earliest (for start date) and latest (for end date) date based upon the parts entered will be used.
The search results will be presented 10 shows at a time, and navigation is identical to that used when browsing and described above.
The show details display gives all the information known about the show. If the show was displayed after a search, then the search criteria will be highlighted.
The first known performance of a song is indicated by a * after the song title. Notes relating to the performance of a song are italicised after the song title. Notes relating to a particular song are referenced by a superscripted number after the song title, and the note can be found below the set list.
Song statistics may be viewed, either overall or on a tour basis. At the moment this just gives the number of times a particular song was played (overall, or on that tour) and the first and last dates of a performance. If the song was only played once, thenb a link to that show is provided. Of course, the number of performances is counted from the setlist database, so it's no indication of a truly unique event.
While the factual information contained in this website is public domain, the presentation and methods of presentation (i.e including but not limited to explicitly copyrighted or accredited materials, database schema and software algorithms) belongs to the copyright holder or author, and cannot be used without their permission. If that person is me, then more than likely I won't mind, but it's still nice to be asked and know where your stuff is going !
If you like the site and would like the infrastructure to produce something similar for another artist then get in touch and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.
